FATIGUE |
We specialize in full-scale fatigue and cyclic testing on a wide range of components including those requiring unique test conditions.
Our capabilities include applying high-tension fatigue loads, and when required, combining the loads with cyclic conditions and temperature differentials to determine ultimate fatigue performance.
In addition to custom configured fatigue / cyclic testing, we operate a number of specially designed fatigue test fixtures.
Drill String Friction and Casing / Riser Wear - A lateral load is applied to a rotating tool joint at the sliding surface between the tool joint and the casing/riser. The casing is then reciprocated to simulate axial movement of the drill string while the lateral load, torque, and wear are monitored. Applications include tool joint hard metals, riser coatings, tubular composites, and various casing wear issues.

Four Point Rotational Bending - Capabilities include 4-point tests at speeds up to 180 RPM (3Hz). Bending moments can be up to 100,000 ft.-lbs. on sample lengths up to 16’, and the use of internal pressure is also available.
